The MODA Mission

MODA Group Support: A group of like-minded individuals who share the common interest of achieving a healthy body weight for life. We meet every Saturday morning in the west end of Toronto. Our weekly workshop provides accountability, education, emotional support, and the inspiration needed to achieve our goals. Each workshop is geared towards planning, strategizing, celebrating successes and accountability with a weekly weigh in. Workshops are open to men and woman providing an easy-going, friendly environment.

Sustained weight loss can be achieved by using proven modern concepts  in a non-depriving, healthy way. In the last 30 years, the weight loss industry has seen no shortage of quick fixes and fads.

Contemporary nutritional knowledge indicates that there is no need to focus on any one particular macronutrient (e.g. by eliminating carbohydrates or focusing on protein). We no longer need to focus on drastic calorie restriction — instead, we must place more emphasis on the quality of the calories we take in. To put it simply: Eat real food!

The MODA Mission understands that many people need to adapt to lifestyle changes in a transitional way. It’s been my experience that too many people give up too quickly because they attempt to implement lots of changes all at once. For many of us, it took decades of unhealthy eating and living to result in our weight gain, so it’s unreasonable to think that a person can implement life-long change in a week or two. For Tony Vassallo, it took several weeks and, in some cases months, to implement all of the various aspects of his lifestyle change. Each person is different and Tony will work with you to incorporate changes at a pace that works for you.
